CAPE TOWN to DUBAI.
In early 2013, Christian decided to embark on an epic adventure, consisting of traveling across the African Continent, and into the middle east, on a motorbike.
This journey is set to start between the end of Q2 and Q3 2013 and not be a race against the clock, nor a deadline to reach his destination. It will be about taking the time needed to discover the obvious and the less obvious.
The Journey will entail the following:
Christian’s chosen mode of transportation is a motorbike, which is in itself a adventure as he will be riding through the most diversified and sometimes challenging terrain and weather.
Part of his night will be spent camping or staying with villagers along the way
In each country he crosses, he will seek out the adventurous things to do, such as safaris on dugout canoes on the Okavango Delta or exploring the Gcwhihaba Caverns in Botswana, bungee jumping off the Zambezi river bridge in Victoria Falls or white water rafting on the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe, diving with whale sharks in Mozambique, sitting with Gorillas in Rwanda or Uganda, hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro…the list is endless!
Christian has partnered up with Africa’s leading online tour operator,Rhino Africa who will provide him with access to numerous luxury lodges and tours throughout his journey, and in most countries he will be crossing.
Africa is a resilient continent, including when it comes to its wildlife. Many species are however in danger, be it the Elephants or Rhino that are poached, the wild dogs, or the many animals that are nabbed from their natural habitat and smuggled into other countries, many of which are in the Arabian peninsula and Middle East.
Christian will do his utmost to help raise awareness and will work with the Wildlife Act Fund whenever and wherever possible.
Christian is keen to help whenever and wherever he can. He does so by donating some of his work for charity. During his trip he will help out wherever he can and reach out wherever he feels he can make a change.
In particular, Africa is in dire need of help for its young ones, be it food, healthcare or education.
The route will be planned as a tentative route that will undoubtedly change as the journey unravels, but it will start in Cape Town, south Africa, and will travel north to Botswana, then east to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and then either heading North to Sudan, Egypt, through to Beirut or east to Djibouti, Yemen, Oman, UAE.
Christian intends to spend anywhere between 2 and 5 weeks per country, depending on the size and things to do.
